National Apprenticeship Week champions continued learning

  • General News
  • 25th December 2015

The value of continued learning after leaving the formal education system was highlighted this week. National Apprenticeship Week began on Monday 8th March and saw colleges and universities partner with businesses to push the importance of vocational qualifications and increasing employability.

With fees continuing to rise, the status of a degree is becoming too expensive – and may not lead to a job. The resurgence of vocational qualifications in recent years has been welcomed by individuals and businesses alike and seen as an investment for the future.

The IoSCM is keen to support those individuals who want to continue their professional development but who want to select an alternative route to the typical university degree.

We now offer a Level 1 qualification in Managing the Supply Chain, which is aimed at those individuals at pre-employment level to enhance their basic knowledge and skills and support entry into a career within logistics, purchasing, manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing shipping or freight transport. This qualification would be of particular interest to work programme training providers.

With the stereotype that you will be less successful in choosing to avoid the graduate route into a career quickly diminishing, it is clear that the option to work and study is a more appealing option for both employees and businesses.
