London, UK, Friday 31st January 2014 – The UK and Ireland’s leading supply chain show has launched on-line registration and announced its Best Practice Seminar programme. Visitors can sign up to the free-to-attend exhibition, held at the NEC Birmingham from the 29th April to the 1st of May 2014, and view the Seminar sessions at www.multimodal.org.uk.
“Multimodal is now in its seventh year, and is firmly established as the one-stop-shop for shippers looking to find new ways of running slicker supply chains,” said show Director Robert Jervis. “This year the show will be our biggest yet, with over 235 exhibitors already booked, and a full programme of topical seminars and masterclasses to help freight buyers stay up-to-date with the latest trends, and understand new legislation.”
Multimodal 2014 has teamed up with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), as well as the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to deliver a progamme of panel discussions and masterclasses. Speakers from Sainsbury’s, ASDA, The co-operative, the International Cargo Handling Co-ordination Association (ICHCA), Collect+, ByBox, Barclays, Oxfam, and B&Q Kingfisher (UK) are amongst the leading names presenting.
Sessions will cover trends including click and collect, portcentric solutions, modal shift, and humanitarian logistics, as well as practical issues such as contracts, correct packing and accurate weighing of containers, the WCO Harmonised System, and understanding supply chain finance.
“We are delighted to be welcoming so many high level speakers to this year’s seminars,” said Seminar Director Emma Murray. “The sessions will tackle some of the industry’s biggest challenges and will complement the on-line learning zone which we will be launching in the next few weeks.” In addition to the seminars, Trade Extensions will be returning to Multimodal to host a series of supply chain simulation sessions using the well known MIT “beer game”.
The Supply Chain Best Practice Seminars will be bookable in February. Multimodal 2014 is already over 70% sold out, with many exhibitors returning, as well as a number of new and prestigious companies exhibiting for the first time. Companies at the show will include DP World London Gateway, Stena Line, DSV, DB Schenker, Port of Liverpool & Manchester Ship Canal, Canute, Direct Rail Services, P&O Ferrymasters, and Stena Line Freight.
