TO DRIVE POSITIVE CHANGE THROUGH THE POWER OF ENTERTAINMENT

Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK, with a vision of a just world, free from poverty. Their mission is to drive positive change through the power of entertainment. Every year, the charity comes up with fantastic ways to raise money for hundreds of different causes; however, they are probably best known for the UK’s favourite fundraising event ‘Red Nose Day’.

It has been over thirty years since the launch of Red Nose Day, an annual event that sees hundreds of celebrities, well-known brands and organisations along with thousands of members of the public, taking part in challenges, hosting events, and pledging their support in a variety of ways to raise much needed funds for the vital work the charity do.

In 2015, the World watched on in amazement as the annual fundraising event celebrated raising over ONE BILLION POUNDS since its launch!

1988 – THE FIRST RED NOSE DAY

The very first Red Nose Day was in 1988 and raised a huge £15 million! Over 30 million people tuned in to watch ‘Blackadder – the Cavalier Years’ and the Young Ones on ‘University Challenge’. Mel Smith and Kim Wilde. In the years that followed, the audience size grew, as did the amounts raised, as more and more of our favourite celebrities signed up to take part in Red Nose Day.

WHAT YOUR MONEY DOES

Thanks to your donations, Comic Relief partners with amazing projects and organisations to make a difference to the lives of millions of people across the UK and around the world.

HOW YOU HELP

All year-round, the money donated to Comic Relief is invested into supporting some incredible projects, making a change to people’s lives across the UK and around the world. In fact, over the past two years, Comic Relief funding has helped to support 11.7 million people, including:

A volunteer at the African Caribbean Care Centre makes a food delivery.

MORE THAN 750,000 people in the UK experiencing financial and material poverty to access advice and support.

A person petting a therapy horse

MORE THAN 29,000 people who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse to access safe accommodation and specialist services.

MORE THAN 46,000 children and young people in the UK, and more than 8.1 million internationally.

Like every year, Comic Relief are relying on the annual event to enable them to help more people than ever before.

YOUR DONATIONS MEAN EVERYTHING

“Poverty isn’t simple, and it’s not always easy to see. It’s behind so many of the issues that we work to tackle. In each of these areas, the COVID-19 pandemic has made people’s lives even harder, so your support is as important as ever.

We believe those who are closest to the issues have the best solutions, so we work with them to build a better world.

We are also extremely concerned about the fast-deteriorating ongoing situation in Ukraine. As the conflict intensifies, civilians are increasingly at risk. We’re working with our partners right now to make sure your Red Nose Day donations can support people fleeing the war in Ukraine.” – Comic Relief
