The Institute of Supply Chain Management Launches Brand New Level 7 Qualifications
The Institute of Supply Chain Management (IoSCM) have launched a brand new range of strategic management qualifications at level 7, across eight industries.
Senior management professionals within the wider supply chain can now access a level 7 accredited qualification from IoSCM. The distance learning qualification will explore the concepts of strategic management and how to formulate organisational strategy.
Previously, the highest qualification from the institute was a level 6 which was designed for those wanting to move into senior management. However, the research and development team at IoSCM felt there was still skills and knowledge to be learnt beyond this, especially went it came to the business strategy and planning element of a high-ranking leadership role.
Head of Material Development, Martin Thirkell said: “The institute found themselves continuously speaking to professionals in a senior role whose experience and responsibilities were beyond our level 6 qualification. It demonstrated to us that regardless of how high up the career ladder, people within the industry were still hugely driven to continue their professional development.
“Whether you work in purchasing or warehousing, manufacturing or shipping, our level 7 qualifications encompass the wider supply chain trade. Corresponding with the overall aim of IoSCM; to equip individuals, businesses and the entire industry with the standard of skills that we help set through our qualifications.”
Whilst the core units of the new qualifications are focused on a specific industry, students can choose from a diverse range of optional units in order to tailor the course to their role and their organisation.
The level 7 qualifications are comparable to a Master’s degree and the credits gained on completion can be transferred over to certain university courses such as an MBA*, expanding opportunities for professionals even further. Students aren’t required to have studied previously, however a particular degree of industry experience is necessary in order to enrol onto the level 7.
